Case Definition: Any ED visit involving a patient 18 years or older with: 1) an ICD-10-CM T36-50 diagnosis code (any intent or encounter type) AND a complaint of “Drug Overdose”; or 2) an ICD 10-CM T36-T50 initial encounter diagnosis code of poisoning with accidental (unintentional), intentional self-harm, or undetermined intent.
EHR Case Information Provided to EDDS: Arrival date (month/year), ED disposition, patient chief complaint(s), diagnose(s) and ICD-10-CM diagnostic code(s), age, race/ethnicity, sex, zip code of residence, and urine drug screen results for 12 drugs (i.e.., Amphetamines and/or methamphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Buprenorphine, Cocaine, Fentanyl, Methadone, Opiates, Oxycodone, PCP, THC, and Tricyclic Antidepressants.
Data Collection Beginning: January 2019
Data Collection Frequency: Twice a year.
